Citizens for the Mandatory Labeling of Genetically Engineered Foods. He received his PhD in World Peace Studies from MERU in the Netherlands in 2002, his MA in the Science of Creative Intelligence from MERU Switzerland in 1977, his BA in psychology with honors from Bowling Green State University [Ohio] in 1974; and was among the early researchers to publish research on the brain chemical Serotonin.
Chris is heir to Steelcase, the world’s largest maker of office furniture, and is a trustee of the
Wege Foundation, an enlightened foundation venerated for its strong stance for over forty years on improving the environment. The Wege Foundation has spearheaded a coalition of over 125 environmental groups in the monumental effort to clean up the Great Lakes, including 41 members of congress and 7 U.S. Senators, involving 8 states and 2 Canadian provinces. The Wege foundation is a leader in inspiring green building by requiring L.E.E.D. certification for all buildings that it underwrites through capital grants. Grand Rapids, home of the Wege foundation, and Steelcase headquarters has the largest number of L.E.E.D. certified buildings per capita – 91.
As well as being an international green developer/investor, Chris is a crusader for the cause of mandatory labeling of genetically modified substances in our food and is working to pass legislation in 2009 to protect the consumer’s right to know what is in our food.
